So far in 2009 I have been registered for 2 races and have yet to run a race. Today I was registerred to run Earth Day 20 Miler, but went to spin class instead. After a great 20 mile run on the 5th, I started having right shin pain. After taking a week off an only having the pain get worse, I finally went to the doctor. MRI showed an early stress fracture in my tibia. I am out until the pain is gone, which should be another week or 2.
Tomorrow will be 5 weeks until the marathon, I am hopeful I will be running. In the mean time, it's back in the pool and on the bike. Once this is healed, the plan is to figure out why I keep getting these injuies even with smart training.
