3 months

Ophelia was 3 months old yesterday, I can’t believe it has been that long already! She has changed so much in such a short time and is becoming a fun little person with a great personality. She is so attentive and loves meeting people, she smiles her beautiful bright faced smile at everyone. In the past month she has started rolling over both tummy to back and back to tummy, copies sounds people make, is fascinated by her hands, and is starting to put everything in her mouth. She is still in the experimental stage with her sleep and is trying everything from sleeping all night to the latest a midnight wake up and refusing to go back to sleep leading to watching Hamlet with daddy. At 3 months she weighs about 11 1/2 lbs and is 25", still a tall lean girl. For me I am still building back my miles and currently am running 30-35 mpw and kept with my goal and completed a long run of 12 miles last week. On Sunday I am running my first postpartum half with attempts to push all time g

"Because I ran"...maybe

This week Ophelia started rolling over from back to tummy, which according to the development stages she might be doing at 4 months. I know all babies develop at different rates, but this is just the next thing she is doing ahead of “schedule”, it really makes me wonder if she’ll be crawling next month! I was asked if she was advanced because I ate so well during pregnancy, some people might argue that no meat, a lot of pumpkin pie/muffins, ice cream, and peanut butter isn’t actually eating well. I jokingly said “No, it’s because I ran.” The more I thought about it I think this might actually have something to do with it. Matt, the biologist, thinks it makes sense too. Exercise would have increased the blood flow and oxygenation to her and the seemed to get her moving too, she did her fair share of “work outs” while I was pregnant. I know the benefits of working out during pregnancy are great, but advanced development; I’ll have to research this further.

Happy Anniversary!

8 years ago today Matt and I were married ! It was such a perfect day, sunny and warm, and full of fun with family and friends. I can’t believe it has been that long already, but looking back we have done a lot in that time. 2 houses, grad school, a lot of great traveling, lots of marathons, a wonderful puppy, and one perfect baby pretty much sum up the past 8 years. Wow, we looked so young! 8 years later!

What a great sleeper

Over the past 10 weeks we’ve had a few random nights where Ophelia has slept 7-9 hours, but never as a routine until now. The past three nights she has slept straight through from 9pm to 7am. Today I decided to take advantage of this since I was up at 5:30 and got in a 4.25 mile run on the treadmill and a shower before she was awake. Until it warms back up again and I can get her out in the BOB I might need to make this my routine. Matt and I took her for a walk in the BOB this past weekend and she loved it, just smiling and laughing at everything she saw. She loves moving so I can only guess that she will love the running even more Ready to go in the BOB I love this new night sleep schedule, although her daytime sleep could use a little help. Some days she naps and others we’re lucky to get a couple 30 minute stretches of sleep. The other day I was so desperate for her to nap that I wandered aimlessly around Target for nearly 1 hour because she had finally fallen asleep and I was
