All smiles

Image
Yes, it looks like I'm turning into one of those mothers who constantly updates about their kids, since my running is minimal I guess I don't have much else to talk about. So here she is all happy and smiley this morning, first day of consistent smiling. (sorry for the quality, picture taken on my phone)

Adapting

Today was the first full day I spent alone with Ophelia and I survived. After 3 ½ weeks Matt went back to work and now it’s just me, no backup when she continues to throw a fit or refuse to nap. Overall the day went pretty well, I even managed to accomplish a few things and got out of the house for a little while. She did fight her afternoon nap which stopped some of the progress I was making during the day, I am so thankful for the Moby Wrap or I would have been stuck armless for much of the afternoon. I think that is my favorite baby related product right now and I would recommend it to any new parent. The next goal is to find time to fit in a workout with Matt gone, that’s the goal for tomorrow.

How time flies!

I cannot believe that 3 weeks has passed since bringing baby home and starting our life at home as a family or 3 humans and a dog. I can't complain too much since I am actually managing to get some good stretches of sleep especially since baby is eating much better, she just went through another growth spurt and is up to 7lb 14oz after losing weight and getting down to 6lb 8oz. Time to finally take out the 0-3 month clothes.

Anyone looking for a good diet, may I suggest the combination of breastfeeding and running! Wow, I don't think I have ever been so hungry in my life, can only imagine what things will be like when I increase the miles. I was so excited to get in 3 outdoor runs this past week, short and slow runs but I was running in the sun. I even managed 11 miles for the week. Come on Spring! After my lack of running through the last 2 months of pregnancy I decided it would be smart to skip the Spring marathon and run a half instead to give myself time to build the mile…

Pregnant Olympic Athlete

Great to see positive recognition of an obviously pregnant athlete at such a high level. Canadian Curler 5 1/2 months pregnant
Don't know much about curling, but still how great ☺We can only hope this will help change the belief of pregnant women needing to stop working out.

The start of my comeback?

Is this it, after not running at all for 2 months am I starting my comeback? Yesterday I managed 30 minutes on the treadmill, never thought I'd be so happy to be back on that thing. It was a lot of walking, but still it was pain free, whihc is much more then I can say for the past 2+ months. Not sure how impessed I am, but I did manage 2.66 miles in those 30 minutes. I'm going to be smart and not jump back into running yet, just easing myself back into things with hopes of being able to run Stillwater Marathon Memorial Day weekend.

She's finally here!

The entire birth process has taught me that things don’t always go according to plan, but the important thing is the end result, which in this case was my healthy baby girl!

During the pregnancy, I had all hopes of delivering without drugs and always thought that labor would just start and progress naturally. Over the past few weeks I started realizing that I had little control over the process and that my body just didn’t quite respond to the contractions like it should. When I got to the hospital on Wednesday night I still was not dilated despite painful contractions all day and a few other telltale signs of labor. The Cervidil was started around 8pm which meant I needed to be on the monitor all night meaning I got very little sleep. Matt decided to go home that night so at least one of us was able to sleep. 12 hours later I was checked and at 2 cm (finally something!) the ob broke my water and we decided just to see what happened before starting anything else since the contractions…
