Marathon Weekly: Maybe?!
Week 5 was the start of more real training but still
an easy week. I have been cleared for 1 long run and keeping the others short.
This week the crazy heat and humidity was here but now back to “normal” summer.
I swam again this week! I am actually considering a tri for 2014 but not just
any, since the many years of being in California for the Napa half which is the
same weekend (used to be) as Vineman I have been wanting to do this, so I have
until Nov to decide since it sells quick. Do I jump right in a do a 70.3? Go
big or go home, right?!
Monday: Swim 20 min (100m more than last time)
Tuesday: Morning strength with trainer. Evening 5.25
mile easy run coaching
Wednesday: Busy morning with fun kids/moms event:
yoga, healthy food, crafts etc Evening 5K
race
Thursday: Morning 2 mile walk and Strength and
evening 5 mile run with MRTT
Friday: Spin class and 2 mile walk
Saturday: 14 mile run in my old neighborhood on
the routes I ran 7 years ago with a speedy running friend and an unexpected kid
free afternoon meant ~15 mile bike with Matt
Sunday: 4.5 mile recovery run/walk and yoga with
the family
O showing off her yoga skills on Wednesday! |
Week 6 means 10 weeks to go and I am rethinking my goal, even had a
crazy idea of using Lakefront and a training run for a different marathon in
late October. We will see how things go, hoping for a better week, better
weather is here and more morning workouts and another swim.
Monday: 4.5 mile run 37:01 (including 2 min cool
down walk) back to morning workouts! J Had to try out my new shoes on the TM. Core/pilates
Tuesday: ?Spin and strength with trainer. Yet another appointment with sports doc this morning. Evening
easy run coaching
Wednesday: Walk with friends to start the day. Swim and core later.
Thursday: Strength and evening 5K race (much
better weather!)
Friday: Spin class and run to/from gym
Saturday: 18-20 mile long run
Sunday: Recovery run/walk and strength
After Saturday's run I hit up the new running store and thanks to my friend and the Adidas rep I was convicned to deviate from my loyalty to Kayano and give these bright beauties a try. The reason the for the TM run today, after working out a few kinks with lacing I think I like them. Can you image me racing in these with the lime green/pink ProCompressions?
How was your week? Is the weather improving or still nasty? Don't forget to enter to win a Drenched 5K entry (not many entries yet and 2 prizes!)
The weather was better during the weekend. Still humid but not quite as hot. You can totally do a tri. You should go for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm really considering a tri, need to focus more on swimming to ease my anxiety!
DeleteI would like to run, but I ended up injuring my knee after not listening to your advice an running to far too soon,...bummer for me, I was always one to learn the hard way, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, hope the knee gets better.
DeleteI LOVE the pink shoes!! I always want bight and bold... it took me a long time to be ok with not being matchy! I hated when my shoes didn't match everything I ran in. Now I could care less. I have blue shoes and run in a lot of pink!
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with not matching, just not much of a pink girl!
DeleteLove those shoes! I can't wait to get new ones! I hope they work out for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm coming back from a recovery and it's hard not to push yourself. Slow and steady wins the race, though, or so they say. I hope you're back at 100% soon.
The shoes are doing good :)
DeleteLove the new shoes! You're playing it smart with your training, I know it will pay off!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura, I hope so too. A year of not top racing to focus on recovery will help in the long run.
DeleteLike the new shoes! You will definitely look snappy with the green compression socks. Good training week here. Still battling with a lot of thunderstorms so that sends me in to the TM.
ReplyDeleteUgh on the thunderstorms, those summer TM runs get tough.
DeleteLove the new shoes! I'm looking for a new pair myself. I've always used Brooks, but I want to find some cuter ones (is that bad? haha).
ReplyDeletehaha not bad at all, I'm usually limited due to my narrow feet and needing 2A shoes.
DeleteI love this hot pink color!!! I'm a sucker for bright colored shoes.
ReplyDeleteMe too, love bright not so big on the pink but getting used to it!
DeleteI would love to see pics of hot pink kicks and socks. You would definitely be the most stylin' runner out there. Also, amazing week this week. I'm so pumped to see how the rest of your training goes!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, the shoes looked cute with my hot pink top at the race!
DeleteI have a pair of hot pink Inov8's and some neon orange reebok nano's for crossfit. I love the neon's! Also - I love your training schedule! Such a good variety!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a runner only but over the last couple years have gotten much more diversity in my training!
