Observations from the gym...

Pretty sure this is at least part 2 or 3 of my observations from the gym, but my recent time in the weight room has meant some interesting observations.

  • There are some interesting drinks in weight room: the other day I say a guy bring in a gallon of chocolate milk! Or how about the neon green concoctions, pretty sure nothing natural is that color.
  • Is it really worth coming to spin class if you text the entire time? There is one young girl who always seems to be in front of me with her phone out and texting throughout class.
  • Similar, I have to wonder why the gym is the place to hold long cell phone conversations. I see the same woman making phone calls and just sitting on a mat in the weight area. She does this every Saturday when I am there. I don't know that I have ever seen who do anything else!
  • Yesterday I actually saw an older woman in the locker room wearing pajamas! I guess, why bother getting dressed if you are just planning to go home and sleep.
  • How do some people still manage to look perfect after a workout? Me, not at all, I am a sweaty mess.

    So true!
  • Didn't we all learn in school not to talk in class? Yes, I do socialize at the gym but that isn't the main reason. I  think some people have their reasons reversed, there is no way I could carry on a full conversation during spin class some days.
Any interesting things you see at the gym?

Linking up for Fitness Friday. Happy Friday, any fun weekend plans? I am happy to say we have no plans!

  1. Texting during spin class?! It would be all I could do to focus on staying on the bike and keeping up.

  2. I had an overly loud instructor giving constant direction on her client the other day, right next to the treadmill I was on. I was around 30 seconds away from 'shushing' her but thankfully they moved on. I find it very distracting when people chat away, I'm not saying don't talk but dear lord don't have a 15 minute catch up. One day it was a group of 3 women discussing restaurants and food, I wanted to barf just listening to them, I guess I don't enjoy hearing about food when I'm doing a 7 mile threshold run!
My 'favourite' was the farter who used to come on the treadmill next to me ALL the time. Most unpleasant, haven't seen him for a while...shame. ;)

    1. Ick on the farter! :(
I am the opposite, I often watch Food Network while on the treadmill.

  3. oh wow, texting during spin class? I'm not coordinated enough to do that! :) I think I would make a comment if I was the instructor...

  4. Argh my comment disappeared! I wanted to say that I don't understand the calls/text people at al - it's such a waste of good gym space. I have boys who grunt and compare muscle - hours of entertainment right there! Gym etiquette is so sorely lacking sometimes.

  5. I don't understand the people who pay for the gym but do anything but workout.

Never seen someone at the gym in PJs weird.

I workout at home. Can't remember the last time I was in a gym.

    1. The PJs were strange and it was a nightgown type thing not even something that most would consider wearing out of the house!

  6. So funny! Just today there was a lady in the bodypump class laying on her mat texting during the workout! On wednesday, there was a lady doing the splits on the mat in the stretching area texting for at least 15 minutes. Same position, splits, texting! Why do they need to come to the gym to text?

    1. Splits and texting! I am amazed by how so many people are attached to their phones. I miss mine when I don't have it but can function without it.
